Snapshot 1: Content, gameplay and visual updates, oh my!

  • Added a new item, the Repeater Mechanism, which allows multiple shots to fire in a row.
  • Added a new enemy, the Imp. A sneaky bastard who will avoid both your sight and your shots.
  • Reintroduced the pixelization effect, but made it toggleable from the options screen.
  • Tweaked a lot of sound effects, and gave them spatialization.
  • Added some atmospheric environmental sounds.
  • Enemies make more identifiable noises.
  • The player character has gotten a small visual overhaul.
  • Fixed some small visual bugs.
  • Filled in the arena with more assets and lighting.
  • Added the upgrade overview screen with full controller support, accessed using tab or options/select on a controller.
  • Added sound effects for items dropping.
  • Added visual effects for muzzle flashes and player death.
  • Added a visual effect to make invisible walls obvious no longer invisible.
  • Removed Temporal AA as it filtered out too much of the grainy pixelated look, created visual artifacts and drew too much performance.
  • Fixed an issue where controller inputs for the bottom face button and d-pads were not usable during gameplay.
  • Tweaked some menus to be more performance efficient and simplified some code, it shouldn't have a significant effect, but will ensure these areas are not causes for bottlenecked performance.
  • Stopped a lot of effects and visuals from being updated while out of reach and not visible for the player, to save performance.
  • Added credits and links to main menu.
  • Made some timing based functionality no longer reliant on framerate, so that those parts of game doesn't speed up or slow down with low/high framerates.
  • Left and right fire are now seperate functions, while this doesn't do anything for the player at the moment. It means that the game supports equipping seperate mods to right and left weapons for different combinations if that turns out to be something the playerbase wants.

So what version of the game is this?

The plan is to make the free demo and full/early access game seperate entities once the demo has reached the point of being representative of what the main version is supposed to be.  As such, I won't be doing version numbers for this demo, once it's done, it's done. (Unless there are some major changes that significantly alters what the game is like, making the demo misleading)

If you want permanent access to the main build that's uploaded at least once per month, feel free to join me over at patreon.
